Journalism was created to focus on issues that were important to society based on truth and dignity. A lot has changed since its beginning with the introduction of the internet. As an old proverb states, “the pen is mightier than the sword.” The news is readily available through newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and the internet. Every single one of these sources has emerged as a powerful medium in their own individual voice.
It is these core values that lie at the heart of our society. They have become a part of today’s society. What was once regarded as being forbidden two decades ago has become a way of life for us today. With modernization and the internet has enabled the news media to be far-reaching. Because of the internet, the world has become more compact. We have the means to gather all the news and gossip about anything and everything on the web. It’s a reflection of who we are and what we want.
While this is true, original values will be preserved whereas newer values, as well as trends, will keep on advancing our culture.
News magazines and social media reveal the mind of an intellectual, providing a perceptiveness to how a person thinks.
All of a sudden we have news organizations unheard of before popping up all over the internet spreading false news undermining the many credible news sources. People are spreading false news information through social media sites yet attend church every Sunday. These scandals are in it for the money and not for honesty and righteousness. It has discredited journalism based on biased opinions on important issues that all of us value to the highest extent.
News media depending on how it is presented can make or break people. While all of this has become the norm in our daily lives, remember, true and honest journalism will always be around. Let’s give a thanks to the news media.
